I love. love. love. teaching the hero's journey to students during our ancient Greek mythology unit. However, this is an awesome concept because it can fit for literally any and every hero of fiction and reality.

I recently hopped on the trend of trying doodle notes with students, and I was SO surprised by how much my high schoolers really enjoyed this activity.

We use this prezi to fill out the notes chart (I'm working on adding the archetypes and background info to a second page)

And fill out the notes as we go! Some of the kids get really into the details and designs. Others just want to take the notes and color after. I let them choose, and it goes pretty smoothly overall.

After this, we apply the steps of the Hero's Journey to various texts. Then, I have them research a "real" hero and use three resources to create a "real hero's journey" project!
